Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
