Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
